EDFU AND
KOM OMBO TEMPLES

We first travel by van to Edfu, to visit the enormous cult temple of the falcon god Horus. Although built in Ptolemaic times, it was strictly constructed according to the ancient Pharaonic architectural specifications, thus offering a magnificant insight into the past since it is also one of the best preserved temples in all of Egypt.

Heading further south to Kom Ombo, we examine a temple with double sanctuaries dedicated to Haroeris and Sobek. Sobek is the crocodile-god and you may see the three mummified crocodiles discovered during excavations.

DENDARA AND
ABYDOS TEMPLES

Heading north of Luxor, we visit Dendara. The temple of Hathor is famous for its astronomical ceiling depicting symbolically the signs of the zodiac, the planets and other heavenly bodies.

The temple also offers a rare opportunity to see the sanctuaries on the roof and get a perspective from the top of the temple. We then follow the Nile north to Abydos, one of the world’s most ancient pilgrimage sites, as it is the center of the cult of Osiris. The Temple of Seti is a renaissance building of the New Kingdom, recalling the artistic sophistication and finesse of the pyramid age.

EXPLORING ASWAN
In the morning you travel to Aswan. Here you will first visit Isis Island to see the Temple of Philae. This is the cult center of Isis and one of the last places in Egypt to practice the ancient religion.

We will also visit the High Dam, and an ancient granite quarry where you can see an unfinished obelisk. In the afternoon we sail on a fellucca boat around Elephantine Island and visit a botanical garden. Return to Luxor in the evening. Option of adding a trip to Abu Simbel.

ABU SIMBEL
Overnight travel to Aswan from Luxor. From Aswan your choice of bus or plane.

The Temple of Abu Simbel is meant to impress, situated on the banks of Lake Nasser, and literally built into a mountainside by Ramses II. On his birthday once a year, the sun lights the sun temple’s sanctuary.

We can also visit the Temple of Queen Nefertari. Return to Luxor or stay in Aswan and join another tour.

CAIRO
There are two versions of the trip to Cairo:

ONE DAY
One day trip from Luxor by train. Visiting the great Pyramids, The Sphinx and the Egyptian Museum.

In the afternoon Khan El-Khalili market and back to Luxor in the evening.

TWO DAYS

and the Egyptian Museum.

Day 2: The Citadel, The Blue Mosque and The Hanging Church, and in the afternoon see the street of al-moez where the Kings and the Queens used to live from 8,000 years in the old islamic Cairo.

This includes accommodation, transportation and the egyptologist guide.

RED SEA COAST
Leaving Luxor in early morning, we reach Safaga on the coast. You can experience the magic of the Red Sea snorkelling around Giftun Island.

A fish lunch is provided, and an evening bus returns you to Luxor or you may spend the night on a boat.

CAMEL MARKET
We begin at six in the morning and drive to Darow, a nearby camel market. While you will see plenty of camels, the market also is a trading place for all sort of creatures, including monkeys, ibex, birds and even snakes. We then stop at a Nubian village for lunch.
