We received an outstanding recommendation and review from the Egyptian Tourism Ministry’s official Website.

As they wrote: "This is the first review we have ever written about a one star hotel, and for good reason. It’s not that we have not tried, but usually the one star hotels we have visited were ill equipped to deal with tourists ...what a great surprise we found in the Nefertiti."

Here are some recommendations we have received from international tour guidebooks, and the guests who have stayed with us.

"(our pick) Nefertiti Hotel (Map pp244-5)
Aladin as-Sahabi runs his family's hotel and the attached Aladin Tours travel agency (see p276) with great care, offering recently renovated, midrange facilities at budget prices. No wonder this hotel is popular with our readers: the rooms are simple but cosy, the small private bathrooms are spotless, the breakfast is good and served on the roof terrace, and the staff is super friendly. The new domed rooms on the rooftop terrace are decorated in local style. You can sunbathe on the rooftop and enjoy the jacuzzi or have a drink with views of the West Bank and Luxor Temple. The top-floor lounge has satellite TV, wi-fi, a pool table and a small gym. On Saturday and Wednesday nights there is a folkloric show with dinner (E£75), with dervish dancing and snake charming, at the rooftop restaurant."

"Nefertiti Hotel (Map p.256)-
Beside the tourist bazaar near Luxor temple, this small boutique hotel is decorated with arabesque murals, tapestries and brass lamps. Guests can dine or smoke a sheesha on an awning-shaded rooftop overlooking the temple, or in the outdoor Al-Sahaby Lane restaurant (see p.273), in an alley off the bazaar. The hotel has free wi-fi, a buffet breakfast and very helpful staff. its engaging owner Ala el-Din was on Midan Tahrir during the Revolution and organizes tours to the oases, Cairo, Sinai and jordan."

Guide de Routord Egypt

[2013, page 250]
"Dans une ruelle perpendiculaire a la rue du souk. 37-23-86. La double aux alentours de GOLE (A2E), petit dejeuner compris. Dans le quartier du souk anime par excellence, voice un petit hotel tres correche aux chambres propres et bien tenues, avec salle de bains, et AC pour certaines. Bon rapport, qualite-prix - gentillesse – Seul inconvenient: le bruit en soiree. Notre meilleure address tout de meme dans cette categorie."

Foot-Print Egypt
[2012, page 244]
"Sharia El-Sahaby Off Sharia Karnak in the tourist bazaar, T/F 095-237 2386, . Doubles with a/c, TV, fridge and private bath (E 160) are very clean, with towels and linens replaced daily. Attractively refubished throughout in an Arabesque style, this centrally located hotel offers a great rooftop (sun-lounging area) with an awesome view of the avenue of the sphinxes and the Nile. At night, the surrounding streets are filled with lively local ahwas. Breakfast buffet us a step above most and food from their street-side restaurant is also available in the room or on the roof, there's a pool table, tawla (backgammon), free Wi-Fi and basic weight room equipment. Family-like warm atmosphere offers a nice respite for weary travellers; this place is highly recommended.

"Aladin, der Bertreiber, will seine Gaeste vor allem vor der Luxor-typischen Abzockerei schuetzen.

Er organisiert Touren zu Tempeln und Graebern zu fairen Preisen mit individueller Fuehrung, arrangiert Bustickets und Trips in andere Orte. Hervorragendes Billighotel mit Dachgarten und herrlichem Blick auf die Altstadt, die Tempel und das Nilufer…"

FROM OUR GUESTS

"We were only going to stay one night, but we stayed ten days, all due to the wonderful reception we received. Aladin was a true gentleman, and I feel like we were old friends. Let them take care of you. After traveling throughout Egypt for some time it has been a real pleasure staying here. I can honestly say this hotel is exceptional value. It is clean (spotless) and the breakfast is the best I’ve had for the money. What more do you want!! Thank you All."
Ross Wall, UK

"I’m so glad we found your hotel and were able to experience your hospitality in Luxor. I will certainly recommend your hotel to everyone I know planning a trip to Egypt and someday I’ll be back to tour the western oasis with you. Thanks to touregypt.net for reviewing your hotel and bringing it to our attention!"
Ruth Niehues and Harmony William, San Francisco, USA

"Highly recommended, central location, 5 minutes from the train station and Luxor temple, clean rooms, very friendly and honest management and staff. Healthy breakfast served on the rooftop. A good start to any day!"
Cliona and Rachel, Ireland

" Nefertiti is an oasis in the middle of the horn beeping, caleches, and people trying to get you to buy papyrus…when you feel too claustrophobic, just go up to the top, put your feet up, get a drink or sheesha, and enjoy the view. As you probably already know, everyone here is great. This is the most relaxing and charming place in Luxor, and the location is perfect."
Suhel, Spain

"When I came to Luxor, I never expected to meet such good friends. Now, when I think happy thoughts, I will be thinking of Aladin and Ahmed and the Nefertiti Hotel. Thank you for such good memories. Ahmed, keep on smiling – one day maybe we will let you win billiards! Aladin – you are the best team player for me! I will always remember the Magic."
Louise, South Africa

"If Nefertiti means A Beautiful Woman Comes, then the Nefertiti Hotel must mean Come have a beautiful stay. Truly a magnificent staff all around to compliment the ideal location. The sounds of the evening city, sunrise over the West Bank, then the Nile, Luxor Temple; the temple’s night lights, all of these and more add a priceless aspect to the terrace. Rarely will you find such a welcoming place, and a real refuge for the occasional respite from a packed day in Luxor. Thanks for a fantastic stay."
Brook, France and USA

"Aladin at the Nefertiti is the nicest and most honest person that I have met in Egypt. The hotel is lovely and all the staff are friendly and helpful. The best day trip to the Valley of the Kings and Queens with ‘sunshine,’ the best guide in Luxor. The felucca journey was the most relaxing two days I’ve ever had and it was cheap and hassle-free to arrange. Thank you everyone at Aladin Tours! Shukran!!!"
Greg Baldwin, Leicester, UK

"Operations such as the Nefertiti have not only earned the right to have our budget business, they certainly also deserve both our respect, as well as our patronage."
